Over the last couple of months we have had the privilege to undertake the textile conservation treatment of a Flemmish tapestry c. 1690. The tapestry had some losses of thread, some damage and some previous repairs that were unsightly. Much of the stitching holding the slits where colour changes occur had broken making the tapestry extremely vulnerable to further damage.
The tapestry has been stabilized, relined and a velcro hanging system will be used to ensure the tapestry is evenly supported while on display in our clients home.
