Marie Manado is a Yawuru-Ninamburr artist based in Broome. This fabric is from Nargula Jarndu. Her artwork draws on the cultural knowledge that has been passed down to her from her elders, particularly knowledge around bush foods and their applications.

Eucalyptus walara (nuts) and blossoms on linen/cotton blend by Marie Manado 2022
The base fabric is ‘natural’ and is a three-colour print with light sage green, light olive green and black coloured details.
Eucalyptus trees are commonly found in the Kimberley. The walara (nuts) are often used to create jewellery and the plant itself has many medicinal properties, particularly for treating ‘cold-sick’ and inflammation.
